What are decostep rigid click (luxury mineral plank)?

DECOSTEP RIGID CLICK (Luxury Mineral Plank) is a rigid click-fit mineral core plank designed for fast floating installation over most sound subfloors, combining waterproof performance with a realistic timber or stone finish.

Styles, colours and plank sizes

Choose from a range of styles, colours and plank sizes to suit the room. Longer, wider planks suit open-plan living areas and make a space read larger; narrower formats work better in hallways and smaller rooms where a long plank would need too many cuts.

Because the wear layer is printed and embossed over a mineral core, you get realistic timber or stone appearance with none of the movement problems of solid wood in a kitchen or bathroom.

Pairing flooring with panelled walls

Rigid click planks sit neatly under MDF wall panelling: fit the floor first, leave the expansion gap, then bring the panelling and skirting down over it to conceal the gap. The combination is a common specification for hallway and utility-room refits.

Installing rigid click flooring

Planks float over the subfloor with a click-lock joint — no adhesive required. Leave a 8–10mm expansion gap at every perimeter and stagger end joints by at least 300mm.

The rigid mineral core tolerates minor subfloor imperfections better than laminate and is fully waterproof, so it suits kitchens, utility rooms and bathrooms as well as living spaces.

  • Click-lock floating installation, no adhesive needed
  • Waterproof rigid core suitable for wet areas
  • Compatible with most underfloor heating systems

Frequently asked questions

Can DECOSTEP flooring be laid over existing tiles?

Yes, provided the tiles are sound, level and grout lines are not excessively deep. Level any hollow or lipped areas first and use a suitable underlay.

Is rigid click flooring suitable for bathrooms?

Yes. The mineral core is waterproof, so it is well suited to bathrooms, kitchens and utility rooms provided the perimeter expansion gap is sealed appropriately.

Can rigid click flooring be used with underfloor heating?

Yes, with most water-based and low-output electric systems. Keep the surface temperature below 27°C and bring the floor up to temperature gradually after installation.

Do I need underlay?

An acoustic underlay is recommended on timber floors and in flats to reduce impact noise. Some planks arrive with an underlay layer already attached.

Care and maintenance

  • Sweep or vacuum regularly with a hard-floor head.
  • Damp mop with a pH-neutral floor cleaner; avoid steam mops.
  • Fit felt pads under furniture legs.
  • Use entrance matting to trap grit at doorways.
