Fire Rated Ribbed Wall Panels for Commercial Interiors

Fire rated ribbed panels bring the contemporary rib profile into buildings governed by reaction-to-fire requirements. The FR MDF core carries the classification while the machined face is identical to our standard ribbed sheet.

What are fire rated ribbed wall panels?

Fire Rated Ribbed Wall Panels are MDF sheets machined with raised square-edged ribs at a consistent pitch, giving a crisp, architectural line-and-shadow finish for contemporary interiors.

Specifying ribbed panelling in offices and hotels

Commercial reception areas and lift lobbies are exactly the places where designers want ribbed panelling and where fire consultants insist on rated linings. FR ribbed sheet resolves that conflict without changing the visual language of the space.

We routinely supply FR ribbed panels alongside standard sheets for a single project, machined to matching pitch so the transition between regulated and unregulated areas is invisible.

Working to a construction programme

Send a wall schedule and we will produce a cutting list and a fixed lead time. Pallet deliveries are booked to your requested site date, and we can split a large order into phased drops to suit limited site storage.

Setting out ribbed panelling

Ribbed panels reward careful set-out: start from the focal point of the wall and work outward so full ribs land where the eye goes first. Fix with adhesive and pins to studs, or to a battened frame on solid walls.

Keep the rib pitch continuous across sheet joints. Ribbed sheets also make excellent bed headboards and bar fronts, where the sharp shadow line reads strongly under downlighting.

  • Square-edged ribs for a sharp shadow line
  • Consistent pitch across sheets for uninterrupted runs
  • Popular for media walls, headboards and commercial fit-outs

Manufacturing and delivery for fire rated ribbed wall panels

Every sheet is machined to order at our Northampton workshop on a CNC router, then hand-finished and quality checked before it leaves the bench. Standard lead time is 5–10 working days, rising to around three weeks in peak season or for bespoke sizes.

We deliver nationwide across England, Scotland and Wales. Small orders travel by tracked courier, full sheet orders travel on a pallet with a tail-lift vehicle, and time-critical or oversized orders can go out on our own vehicle or by same-day courier. Collection from Northampton is free and usually available the day your order is finished.

Frequently asked questions

Which fire classification do these panels meet?

The FR MDF we use is manufactured to Euroclass B-s1,d0 in the tested thicknesses, with the manufacturer's declaration of performance available on request.

Can FR ribbed panels be phased across multiple deliveries?

Yes. We can split a large order into scheduled drops so you are not storing sheet material on a constrained site.

What is the difference between ribbed and slat wall panels?

Ribbed panels are machined from a single MDF sheet with shallow raised ribs. Slat panels use taller, more widely spaced slats with a deeper gap, giving a stronger three-dimensional effect.

Can ribbed panelling be fitted horizontally?

Yes. Horizontal ribs visually widen a narrow room and work well behind low-line media units. Choose the horizontal orientation option when ordering so we machine the sheet accordingly.

Care and maintenance

  • Wipe along the rib direction with a soft cloth to avoid catching edges.
  • Vacuum the rib valleys occasionally with a brush attachment.
  • Repaint contact areas such as bar fronts with a hard-wearing eggshell.
  • Seal cut ends immediately after trimming.

Product details from our workshop

Ribbed MDF panels made to order in Northampton: Fire Rated Ribbed Wall Panels are machined on our CNC routers and delivered across England, Scotland and Wales. Narrow, closely pitched ribs are routed across the face of each sheet for a fine, contemporary texture that reads well in both daylight and downlighting. Manufactured from fire rated (FR / Euroclass B) MDF, available in sheet sizes of 2400 x 575, 2400 x 400, 1200 x 575, 800 x 400 and thicknesses of 12mm, 18mm.

The fire rated core is specified for commercial fit-outs, escape routes, HMOs and any project where a Euroclass B reaction-to-fire rating is required by building control.

Supplied unfinished and ready to prime, so you can paint the panels in any colour to match your scheme. Ideal for offices, hotel corridors, reception areas and communal spaces. Every sheet is CNC-machined, hand-checked and batch-matched so long wall runs line through correctly.
