Velotone Acoustic Wall Panelling in Fabric-Faced Finishes
Velotone is our premium acoustic range, using a soft, colour-matched face rather than a timber veneer. It is specified where acoustic performance and colour flexibility matter more than a wood-grain look — meeting rooms, studios, consulting rooms and high-spec home offices.

What are velotone acoustic wall panelling?
Velotone Acoustic Wall Panelling are slatted wood panels bonded to a dense acoustic felt backing, used to reduce echo and reverberation while adding a warm, linear timber finish to a wall or ceiling.
Colour-led acoustic design
Because Velotone comes in a range of colours, you can tune the panel to a brand palette or an interior scheme instead of working around a fixed timber tone. That makes it the easiest option for commercial fit-outs with a defined identity.
The softer surface also diffuses light rather than reflecting it, which helps in rooms with a lot of glazing or video lighting.
Where Velotone outperforms slatted timber
Timber slat panels absorb well across speech frequencies. A fabric-faced panel like Velotone typically broadens that absorption, which is why it is the better answer in rooms with persistent low-mid boominess such as square meeting rooms and basement studios.
Installing acoustic slat panels
Panels can be fixed directly to plasterboard with screws through the felt between slats, or bonded with adhesive on a flat, dry wall. Screws through the felt disappear once the slat shadow closes over them.
Cut the felt with a sharp knife and the slats with a fine-tooth blade. Butt panels together so the slat gaps stay even — the felt seam is invisible in normal light. For ceilings, always mechanically fix rather than relying on adhesive alone.
- Reduces echo and mid-range reverberation in hard rooms
- Fixes to walls or ceilings; trims easily to size
- Felt backing hides fixings and softens the joint line

Frequently asked questions
How is Velotone different from wood slat acoustic panels?
Velotone uses a soft fabric-style face available in several colours, giving broader absorption and a more contemporary, non-timber look. Slat panels give a wood-grain finish with focused mid and high frequency absorption.
Is Velotone suitable for ceilings?
Yes, with mechanical fixings. Ceiling application is particularly effective in rooms where wall space is limited by glazing or joinery.
Do acoustic slat panels actually reduce noise?
They reduce reverberation inside the room — echo, harsh reflections and call-quality problems — rather than blocking noise between rooms. Covering roughly 20–30% of the wall area gives a clearly audible improvement.
Can acoustic panels go behind a TV or radiator?
Behind a TV, yes — leave a service gap for cables. Directly above a radiator is best avoided, as the constant heat cycle can dry the slats out over time.
Care and maintenance
- Vacuum the felt with a brush attachment every few months.
- Wipe the slats along the grain with a dry or barely damp microfibre cloth.
- Avoid silicone polishes — they leave a film on the lacquer.
- Keep panels out of permanently damp rooms; they are for dry internal use.
